Minibeasts

The children have enjoyed learning about mini-beasts this week. We have shared the Very Hungry Caterpillar story which has led to lots of discussions about the life cycle of butterflies. They have learnt that some caterpillars are poisonous and use camouflage to protect themselves. The children have enjoyed exploring the outdoors looking for bugs. We have found lots of ants, wood lice and earwigs in our playground. The children used magnifying glasses to look carefully at the different features. They have enjoyed creating mini beasts using the loose parts and talked about including 6 legs and lots of eyes.
