The children talked about the festival of Holi. This is a Hindu festival which is also known as the festival of colour, festival of spring and festival of love. We learnt that it is a celebration of new life, spring and love. We talked about how they celebrated, the food they eat and what they do. We watched a video that showed a festival of colour taking place in India. Lots of children commented that it looked fun and they they would like to go. They talked about the monkeys, the buildings and the colours they could see in the video. The children we keen to have a go at creating their own Holi inspired art work. We used spray bottles and splatted paint over photographs. We took power paint outside and experimented with mixing the colours with rain and snow.
