This week the children have enjoyed learning about different celebrations and talking about how we celebrate.
Bonfire night
The children have enjoyed role playing in the bonfire night area. They have been role playing buying and making food, toasting marshmallows on the fire and pretending to be fire safety Marshall. We have talked about fire safety and what we should do to protect ourselves in a fire. The children have created lots of artwork inspired by the celebration.
Diwali
The children have learnt about the festival Diwali which has sparked lots of conversations about how we celebrate. We talked about what we celebrate with our families. We discussed special food we eat, wearing new clothes, lighting candles and decorating the house. The children learnt about all the ways you can celebrate Diwali and compared these to our celebrations. The children made clay candle light holders and listened and danced to traditional music.
